When People Talk

When people talk....LISTEN! People used to always tell me I have too many clothes. Didn't know if they were compliments or just observations either way...the comments went in one ear and out the other! Until my recent move, and all my belongings from my placement and what I had in storage were under ONE roof. I was not prepared for what I was about to see!

The amount of clothes that I have accumulated over the years is RIDICULOUS! Yea yea yea we all are self proclaimed fashionista's and believe the more you have, the better....rubbish! If you have clothing that you haven't worn in 2-5 years and it is not a statement or vintage piece
 GET RID OF IT!

Thus I am getting rid of more clothes. Between the blog, Ebay, and charity shops my wardrobe will be downsized significantly and weight lifted off my shoulders! I will feel sad for a few minutes but will feel happier when I am able to see all of my clothes and not search through towers of clothing just to find a pair of Seven for all Mankind Jeans! You'll see the results soon enough...

In short, When People Talk: Listen. You may not always agree with what they say but they just might be telling you something about yourself that you didn't know. I'm glad I am finally listening!

All That Glitters

I wore this out out to dinner in Bradford with my friend Stella. It is no surprise that I like things that glitter and shine. Mainly vintage Sequin pieces that I have been collecting for years, and now glitter shoes that sparkle. They are pieces that add a simple oomph to your outfit without having to try too hard. I scored this Over-sized Vintage Sequin Jacket last summer in America at a thrift store in Maryland! Gosh I miss Thrift hoping in the states... the UK just isn't the same!

Still unpacking and let's just say I had to buy more furniture I wasn't happy at all, because my beautiful wardrobe didn't fit in my flat! But it needed to be done, so I can't cry over spilled milk now can I? Everyone have a fantastic weekend!!!

The Move

This weekend I moved from Barnsley back to Bradford for my lest semester! Wow, 5 years has really flown by fast. Nonetheless, moving is stress! I think the most stressful part of my move was my four door glass door wardrobe not fitting in my flat due to the ceiling being too low. If I would have known it would not have fit, I wouldn't have taken the flat.

I also moved in to find no oven door on my oven! I was laughing to myself thinking this can't be true!! I should hopefully have one by the week ending...but you know landlords/agency's just say this to buy time, thus I am expecting it to come next week.

Other than that the unpacking process has been going slow but getting there slowly. Will go to Ikea today to purchase clothing rails and dressers for the meantime.

The best part of this apartment is that I don't always have to put the heat on (thus saving on electric bills) and the view at night is just beautiful....Well back to packing...I hope your week has been more eventful than mine. *smile*

Vintage Trench

One thing that I have learned while living in the UK is that the weather is very fickle, especially in the North!!! Thus, I try to make sure I dress the part whenever possible. This vintage trench comes in handy! I bought it about 6-7 years ago in the states, and it hasn't left my side since ... and probably never will!

I will be moving this weekend and let's just say I wish I had packed a long time ago!!!! Up packing ALL NIGHT!~ Have a blessed weekend!

Rihanna for Armani

One artist I am starting to like more and more for her I don't give a damn attitude is none other than Rihanna. To be honest when she first released 'Pun the Reply' about 5 years ago I just knew she was a one hit wonder... well she proved me and the rest of the world wrong. She has definitely grown on me. Her style and her persona have taken the world by storm.

She looks fabulous in this campaign for Armani! Keep it up Rihanna!

Dancing Women

Every time I look in my closet I swear I see a dress that I bought, wore once months or years ago, then put back in the closet and forgot about it. This grey dress is one of those dresses! I love the dancing women prints on the dress. After realizing a bit of an addiction I had in regards to shoes and clothing I shall be 'Shopping' more in my own closet!

What addictions are you trying to curb? Writing things down always helps. If I didn't write down how much I ate or how much I spent on shoes, I may have never noticed some of the habits that I had....writing things down quantifies things and makes your mind realize things that you may do subconsciously...

Shoe Discovery

Most females have loads of shoes, but I am not one that usually buys loads of shoes, or so I thought. I didn't notice it until I was at work last week and my manager jokingly said, "how many shoes do you have?" I replied, "I don't know." She then said, "You have loads because you wear a different pair everyday." I said, "Do I? Yea maybe I do." Then she said, "How many pairs of shoes have you bought since your placement started?" I said, "About ten". She smiled.

After that brief conversation I heard my fiance's voice in my head about letting go of things when you buy more so you always have space. Thus during my break I proceeded to write down all the shoes I have bought since August 2011 in the last six months...

I was shocked that I had spent SO MUCH ON SHOES!!!! But I told myself I would still only buy one more pair these studded topshop slipper loafers. That was a lie, I proceeded to buy those another pair of slipper loafers on sale and a pair of vintage navy blue leather boots in Portobello Market this weekend. Taking that list from 18 to 21. It is safe to say it's time to start curving my appetite when it comes to shoes.

Thus I have sold 14 pairs of shoes via the blog and EBAY to leave more space in my closet and may still get rid of more. I have noticed a lot those shoes were bought just because, not because I really needed them. I am trying more and more than ever to be more about what I want and need equaling quality and less about quantity.

I mean it's great to have shoes, but realistically am I going to wear every single pair all the time?!? I love shoes no doubt, but I have to start being smarter about my purchases and not buying just because I want something or they are on sale (we all do it) and buying what I really want like those plain Black Leather Salvatore Ferragamo Varina's then let go of all my other plain black flats. I love all 21 pairs of shoes I bought in the last several months. But I am sure I could have done without about ten pairs of them. Next stop downsizing the blouses...

Her Room

I have been really busy lately at work, trying to downsize my wardrobe, packing, and looking for a new place for my move back to University. For the last year and a half I lived in a two bedroom flat and I made it my own place. For my placement I had to give it up, put my furniture into storage and move into a room, with a shared bathroom and kitchen. I feel like I am living in The Towers again at Howard University with my Ace. Let's just say it's been an interesting experience but I am happy it's almost over.

I tried to make my room look a little modern and arrange my possessions to the best of my ability. One thing I will say is I saved A LOT OF MONEY by living here with having bills inclusive! Can't wait get the rest of my clothing out of storage and to be able to see all my shoes and clothing in one place again.....Nonetheless thought I'd take some quick photos of the room before I moved out. You can see my untidy mess!!! And see some of my addictions...

Hope you are having a lovely week!!!
